![]() If you want to buy, and play immediately, you will likely be bored fast. If you want to have to work to find a community it’s perfect. I’ve never actually participated, but they do them everyday and are pretty serious about it. I’m in a discord where a large group uses a multiplayer mod to do races. The community is huge for BeamNG and if you can think of something, I’m sure someone’s made a mod for it, and it has a really large community. Monster Truck mods are the ones I particularly enjoy. The fun lies within the modding community. That said, that’s not where the fun in it is. The game having no official full release yet, the amount of “career” options, and challenges you have are very limited. If you’re short on money, I don’t think you should get it. ![]() Equally as fun are the different racing options you have. It’s more than just a crashing simulator, it’s not even meant to be a crashing simulator technically, it’s just fun to use it like that. It’s not a racing simulator, but a physics one. Unpopular Opinion: BeamNG IS a simulator. I'm still occasionally playing it after being an original fundraising backer in 2015. all added tracks were provided free to everyone, and all DLC is just cosmetic or optional cars (none which are really overpowered). The devs continue to add content and updates to this day (now 3 years after release). It has multiplayer with servers that are popular at almost all hours (including for me at 9pm PT/Midnight ET when I'm free to play and most other sims are nearly empty). It has full career in lines of Gran Turismo or Forza where you buy cars, upgrade cars, then race the car to win more cash/xp to buy more and work your way up the levels. Are you talking about the demo where it was just a playground to wreck your car? Funny enough they only recently just re-added that back to the actual game for shits and giggles (you can use it with friends as a demo derby location, or just free roam it). But even if it runs at 60fps on a GTX3070 on lowest graphics, we can make it work. It's come miles from Next Car Game. I know the general answer is that the current engine wouldn't allow consistent FPS. The whole Oculus Quest 2 market shows that VR users don't care much about graphics. I would spend days in BeamNG VR even if it looked like garbage. We don't care about consistent 90 fps or good graphics. Let us struggle and fight to get it working. I don't think people realize that VR off-road games are non-existent at the moment and the BeamNG team could be pioneers in this field.ĭevs, the VR community asks you: release anything that would allow us to create a VR mod. It is a completely barren market and there is nothing in sight from any developer. The answer is as simple as it gets: there is absolutely no off-road VR game of any kind.Īssetto Corsa and other sims cannot handle off-road at all. I know every single thread about VR in BeamNG, and every answer from the devs. While not always strictly enforced, moderators may act in situations where new submissions detract from the welfare of the subreddit.įor the last year, I have googled "BeamNG VR" at least twice a day, I have searched every single forum, I have tried all hacks and stuff like VorpX (which I spent 2 days on trying to configure), I have even researched the effort and possibility of creating a VR mod (I am a software developer, but have no experience with Lua).
